750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle #38 of 114.
Appearance - Deep amber. Nice wispy surface. Collar of off white foam.
Smell - Less impressive whiskey than the Eastside, which was not intense to begin with. Still has a vanilla presence. Lots of grapefruit and other light fruits. Caramel aroma of course.
Taste - Whiskey is slight, doesn't permeate the barleywine. Bright flavor. Sharp alcohol. Caramel malts all over, but very fruity. Bitter finish.
Mouthfeel - Less smooth than the Eastside. Slightly sharp booze.
Overall - Still an impressive barleywine, but this whiskey treatment wasn't as good as Eastside.

#101/114, from the taproom
"single cask from big bottom whiskey" ; sharpie marked "2" on the cap
Needed something to knock me out so i can get up early and catch a flight east - this should do the trick. Muddy garnet body, creamy carbonation, nice lace. The bourbon barrel provides heavy doses of bourbon but not much wood or other common traits. Very sweet - lots of dark fruit, caramelized brown sugar, booze for miles. I appreciate Upright screwing around with styles, but this is pretty deviant from their sweet spot

CBC bottle share.
A: Hazy dark brown color with a thin off-white head.
S: Tons of booze! Followed by oak, caramel, vanilla and coconut. A bit of chocolate and brown sugar in the end.
T: A bit hot. Brown sugar, toffee and tons of caramel. Some chocolate roastiness. Pretty sweet and boozy.
M: Full bodied with low carbonation.
O: Nice barleywine that I would gladly drink again if it were available. Far from Upright's best effort though.
