Someone Talked is a very special beer made exclusively for our friends at Healthy Spirits. Less than 60 cases were ever produced. The 2014 batch of this imperial stout was aged for a full year in bourbon barrels before bottling. Just a touch of locally roasted coffee was added for extra depth and character

The smell on this thing was unbelievable. Tons of chocolate and bourbon on the nose. Taste was the same- loads of chocolate with just enough bourbon to tell it was barrel aged. It felt just a bit thin, but it still was a treat. Big, boozy chocolate dessert. Good stuff.

Poured into a snifter. Nice deep black with a surprising inch of head. No lace. For 13%, very nice.
Chocolate and bourbon barrel make up most of the smell. Something roasty in the background, but I can't tell if it's the coffee or not.
Caramel and chocolate are quickly smoothed out by oak. Bourbon hits around the middle, but not with as much of a boozy burn, in fact, the 13% is well hidden. Roasted coffee finishes this beast. More carbonation than expected.
I have a Four Roses aged bottle as well, it'll be hard to save for a year because this is such an interesting stout. If you're in SF, hit up Healthy Spirits and grab one.
