A blend of Fuzzy Sno-beck and a high gravity barrel fermented beer. Once the beer in the barrel is done fermenting, the Fuzzy Sno-beck is added to top off the bourbon barrel where it is aged for six months before being aged an additional 14 months in stainless steel before bottling.

Bistro -Bal Aged Fest ’10.
Pours a mostly clear medium amber-brown color with a small off-white head. The aroma is bourbon barrels, sweet caramel malts, and mild citrusy hops. The flavor is nice for an American barleywine, -bal aged, with caramel malt, slight bourbon adding an alcohol note, oak, and a good hop bitterness. Medium-bodied and slightly on the boozy side with low carbonation. Enjoyable beer overall.

Corked 750 poured into three large wine glasses.
Pours a clear, dark auburn with mahogany highlights in the light. A rich creamy tan head sits atop and settle to a thin film.
Dates, maple syrup, and decadent cake are apparent on the nose. Soft chocolaty oxidation character apparent. Such a good aroma here.
Again, dates and maple syrup show thselves, this time on the palate. Toasted pecans, brown sugar, and everything you could want from a dark English barleywine. Finishes with soft oak and vanilla with decadent cake flavor lingering long after.
Mouthfeel is velvety but not syrupy. Soft carbonation. Works great.
I was impressed with this at the Toronado Barleywine Fest and this bottle confirmed it. One of my favorite barleywines I have had the pleasure to try.

The beer pours a reddish-amber color with an off-white head. The aroma is heavy on the caramel and toffee malt, with a little bit of rum and cocoa mixed in. The flavor is a little more complex. I get a lot of toffee, caramel, dark fruit, rum, roasted malt, molasses and some raisins. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very nice.

S: Oak is very evident on the nose right off the bat. Sweet caramel, dark fruits, and maple syrup provide a pleasant sweetness to it. There is a touch of char to the aroma, which I am assuming is from the barrel.
T: Starts off with a big time maple syrup flavor. The finish has a lot of oak flavor to it and a touch of char. Some dark fruit character, perhaps black cherries and plums. Caramel and brown sugar provide additional sweetness. Bourbon flavor is there, but not as dominating as in many other barrel aged barleywines.
M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation.
O: This beer is close to being really good, but at times the oak flavor is just too strong and detracts from the enjoyment of the beer.

Aroma is butter, caramel, whiskey, and oak.
Flavor is heavy on the butterscotch, lots of sugary caramel, and plenty of whiskey and oak. Booze.
Body is medium/heavy and oily, could have been a bit more carbonated. Not interested in trying this one again, unless they fix the butter problems.
I'm told this is a bourbon -bal aged Barleywine, of which only the -bal was really present.
