Buttered popcorn, anyone? I've had this on draft and from the bottle. The buttered popcorn (BP) flavor is prevalent throughout the draft version, but it really only hit me on the first sip from the bottle. After the first bottle sip, it mellowed into a very nice sour beer. If you can get over the BP taste, then it really is a solid golden sour beer. Definitely worth trying at least once.

 

Pours pale, cloudy gold. Large bubbly head, half a film retaining. Looks a bit mild.

Smells mild too. Bretty, tart certainly, with some balsamic and peach fruit notes. Touch of copper and medicine on the back. The sort of nose I like, but a little subdued.

Drinks more sweet, and kind of sickly. Odd kind of buttermilk character that clashes horribly with the tart notes, and back is all creamy and sweet, almost like creamed corn, with an odd yeasty character. A confused blend, not very enjoyable.

Bit of pull to it and a decent body. Inevitably dry, though, from the particular yeast used.

Not sure quite what's wrong with this. Tartness is strong, but doesn't meld with the other flavours, almost like it's been introduced late. Odd, and a bit off-putting.

 

 

 

 

 

Pours a light orangey gold color with a little to no head. It's mildly cloudy, sort of a dingy, dusky liquid. What bubbles were produced fade away almost immediately, but it's a Berliner, so that's not a surprise. The aroma is odd. There's a lot of wheat, which seems a tad funny. It has a very bready, cereal-ish flavor. At first, there was a very nice tart lemon note and some nice funk knocking around, but that all dissipated or was overwhelmed by the odd graininess. It smells like warm, old, wet, moldy grain. The taste takes this same profile in a worse direction. It has moderate to medium sourness. It tastes like spoiled grain, messy funk and soured wheat. There might even be a little diacetyl thrown in the mix. It's just a mess. Mouthfeel is oddly thick. I really need to stop buying Ale Industries beers.

 

 

 

 

 

Not true to style. Looks more like a Gueze or Flemish style. Very sour but Brett proletariat just drags it down..
Color is pale and good. Cloudy and light head.
Aroma dominated by Brett.
Palate is nice and sour but the Brett flavour is unique and unpleasant on the palate.
