On tap at the SD Taproom 9th anniversary on 02/27/16.
Pours opaque black with a khaki head. The taste is dominated by black coffee with some vanilla and oak. There is a subtle rum barrel presence that compliments the heavy coffee flavor. Very good.

One of the rare rum-barrel aged beers that I prefer to the bourbon-barrel aged version. The rum just gives something unique here, some sweetness, almost like candied nuts or something -- which makes sense when you think of rum, caramelized sugar, etc. I think maybe it's that sweetness that helps to offset the bitter coffee addition. Cool stuff that I think would do well if released in bottles.
