Enjoyed a pint of Even Keel Session IPA brewed by Ballast Point @ Marston's, at my local Wetherspoon pub during the chain’s beer festival this month.
Deep-red copper, this fruit-ester rich & lightly sulphuric Premium Bitter has very little in relation to that BIG word, IPA~ Rather, it's stonefruit-focused with a good crystal&pale malt-lead backbone, leaving a mildly chewy & rough citric hop bitterness to linger with rather acute acidity & roast malt aroma @ finish.
So many interesting hops are used during the brewing process: Ahtanum, Cascade, Cluster, CTZ, Perle, Spalt... Just wondering why using so many varieties? For, really nothing stands out & the mixture is not particularly distinctive...
