Pours a cloudy pale amber in the big tulip with a nice foam. Pleasant light body and plenty of aromatics and spice.

Rather spicy on the tongue with plenty of spritzy mouthfeel. The German esters are well in evidence with a light banana flavor and distinct spice, though not as clove tasting as is typical. This also has a more bitter edge than a lot of Hefeweizens, but every sip returns to the mellow maltiness. The lemony flavor is quite pervasive after some sipping.

A tasty American version with more hops but alas, less of that creamy German sensation. This is kind of an oddity, a new Hefeweizen released in December, but maybe not in San Diego. On tap at Ballast Point India Street.
