Dark brown in the tall tulip glass with a handsome beige head. Aromas of roasted grains.
Large-flavored, rich, and warm with malt. Lots of caramel overlaid by a scratchy, twiggy taste and moderate hops. Rather grapey taste. Moderate bitterness without much hop flavor. More chalky than milky. A little hot even for the moderate alcohol.
This is not so sweet and thick-feeling as most Milk Stouts which makes for a more pleasant quaff. On tap at Ballast Point in Little Italy in December, 2013. [Review from tasting notes]
