11 oz pour on tap. Look is jet black with small khaki head. Smell led by roast coffee, raisins, chocolate and brown sugar. Taste was similar with roast coffee, some spicy barrel and rye notes, and a chocolate sweet finish. Light in the mouth, limited carb, a bit dry on the finish. Overall a nice variant on a good beer.

On tap at The Federal Bar in North Hollywood, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, chocolate syrup, vanilla bean, rye whiskey, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, vanilla, rye whiskey, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast and wood bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with great rye whiskey barrel aged characteristics that work well with the base beer.
Serving type: on tap.

On tap at The Cub Room in Rochester, NY.
This one pours big and black, with a 1.5 inch head, off-white and fluffy. There's very little lacing.
Smells understandably nice, tons of vanilla, a bit of whiskey, some chocolate, and muted coffee. Seems like the vanilla is amplified in this version, with both the added vanilla and the vanilla additions from the barrel.
It was definitely interesting how this beer developed as it warmed. Fresh off the tap, the vanilla was dominant, with a slight whiskey kick. There was some chocolate, but barely any coffee, which makes sense, given coffee fades with time. However, about halfway through the pour, it switched, and the coffee became more present, moreso than the vanilla. It was nice to get all the flavors of regular Victory at Sea here, albeit at different times.
This is fairly thick bodied, creamy and full, with a lower level of carbonation. This is very drinkable.
This was super excellent.

The guy that gave me this said it was aged since 2008 till 2015. It was a birthday present. I could definitely taste the barrel Oaked flavor with noticeable chocolate and coffee notes. Burns my through. Might as well call it whiskey.
