Notes: This Imperial Porter is a bold, smooth brew with just the right amount of sweetness. We infused this robust porter with whole vanilla beans and San Diego's own Caffe Calabria coffee beans, and aged in Four Roses Bourbon Barrels.

Served at 2015 [email protected] day.

Immense aroma of caramelized and brown sugar, tobacco, molasses and bourbon.
Flavor is all this and then some. Excellent. Coffee and vanilla remain. Delicious.

Feel is thinner but creamy so still shines.

On tap at Sunset Beer Co's Ballast Point LABW 2014 event. The barrel aging brought out a lot more of the vanilla flavor, which is so prominent in the nose of the base beer but not as prominent in the actual taste. It also has less of the base coffee/espresso bitterness, which works to highlight the overall smoothness, which is awesome at just over 12%.

This is delicious and Ballast Point really should start bottling some of their barrel aged victory at sea variants.
