On tap at The Mansion, Melbourne, FL 4/27/16. Good beer but not even a hint of peanut butter.

Pours a beautifully marble brown cascading carbonation that slowly turns to black with a tan head. It seems promising at first, something that looks that soft and pillowy should follow through, but this doesn't.
This beer is shockingly bitter. I don't know how you make a peanut butter porter that is this bitter, and simply not smooth, but they did it. The peanut butter comes through but only in a light manner, then a bitter astringent porter flavor, which I'm not sure I've ever had in the style before.
Ballast Point is really going overboard with the variants on all their beers. They really didn't need to considering their success and the quality and popularity of their standby brews. Furthermore, there are dozens of big breweries making peanut butter+chocolate+even coffee stouts and porters that are eons better than this.

We have a winner!
I tried a taste of this at the brewery today and bought a whole growler. The concept of PB and stout has always appealed t me, but most I have tried sucked. This is an exception.
A - Almost black, good sized head for a growler, tan, lots of cling.
S - Mostly booze and malt. Slight nuttiness comes through.
T - Beautiful. Rich porter with a wonder fresh peanut finish that pairs almost perfectly.
M - Full body, rich, fair carb, good balance.
D - Tasty. Thank you, Ballast Point!
