Our Calico Amber Ale takes its inspiration from traditional English ESBs. Four types of malts give it a bold complexity, and our proprietary yeast strain lends it a fruity, madeira-like richness. However, it’s the American hops that give this ale a distinct bite and floral aroma that have earned it just about every major beer medal.

Enjoyed this on tap at Mellow Fellow before the beginning of the final Aces homestand 2016. Looked a pretty color, lesser carbonation seemed apparent right at the beginning of this, ruby and amber colors. Aroma was nice, contributory sweetness from the rum came right out.
Taste was a sweet, mildly sweet, smooth experience. Just the slightest amount of wood and red malt perceptible, brown sugar, caramel and toffee least of all. Hops and bitterness way out of the way. This was super enjoyable, never hot.
A very fine beer.

On tap at The Federal Bar in North Hollywood, CA.
Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, rum, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, rum, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is tasty and super easy to drink.

Had this version on tap at the tasting room, listed as style: Amber Ale w/ Kaffir lime and Rosemarry... didn't really taste much of either, but overall very good amber ale.
