On tap at Ballast Point - Miramar, CA
Full pint – tulip glass 09/10/15
This is the collab with Half Acre brewing
Darker amber color with some light chestnut brown mixed in. Good visibility to the bubble show taking place inside. Nice froth of khaki foam that cascades large curtains of lace across the glass. Smells of lemony hops with pine and some herbals. Lesser notes of grapefruit and assorted citrus. Peppery rye spice and bread reveals with a faint caramel like sweetness.
Good dose of fruity hops here. Lemony and citrus like with a light earthy herbal flare. The rye is just the right amount to nuance in a good amount of spicy bread flavor. Slightly nutty with a light caramel sweetness to it. Moderate amount of bitters with a nice drying crisp feel. Medium filling heft on the palate. A real nice brew all around.

The ballast point rye ipa is actually a collaborative effort with half acre out of chicago....i tried it at pizza parlor on green and washington. It poured a clear copper with white head that left a nice lace. The scent had spice and hop. The taste was evenly balanced and the hops led toward a more floral with spice arrangement. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it was tasty!
