I had bourbon-barrel Barmy at Devil's Den in Philadelphia, leftover from a Craft Brewers' Conference event the week before. Labeled as a "apricot & honey ale".

Comes with no head or lacing, smells sweet and boozy and bourbon-y; honey and brown sugar. Heady!

The taste follows the nose, with an added touch of fresh orange zest, tropical fruit peel and lemon juice.

A bit of a flat mouthfeel, but just fine for the style. And rather drinkable for such a massive ale!

Had on tap at Crafty Cow in Oconomowoc, WI. According to the 'tender, they got this beer by mistake after ordering the non-BA version. The nose was definitely fruit forward with alcohol burn. Loved it. Taste followed with booze leading the way, Figs and Caramel following it up. Loved it more. Really comes across as a super nice english barleywine, will definitely be searching out again!!!

4-23-16 - Growler fill from Ballast Point's full tap takeover at Isaac Newton's in Newtown, PA. SO many choices! Never had the fruit Barmy, so I dove right into the Bourbon Barrel Aged version. Poured myself a nibble into my tall stemmed merlot glass. Clear dark orange/brown color.
