Tasted in a 16 oz snifter from draft at O'Toole's on January 24, 2017. ABV is listed as 8.5%. Look is dark gold with a thick white head and sticky lacing.

On tap. Poured a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of pine, citrus and toasted caramel. Sharp piney bitterness with citrus and pineapple. Toasted caramel backbone.

A: Poured from the half-growler into a Duvel tulip. Body is light in color, golden-orange with a small off-white head on top.
S: Faint. Trying to get a closer, better impression, I stuck my nose in the liquid. That oughta tell you something. . . .Some sweet malt and earthy or herbal hops is about it.
T: Meh. On the sweet side of the DIPA scale, with heavy malt presence and alcohol. Hop bitterness kicks in more on the aftertaste than anywhere else, and it still has to battle with sweet caramel malt.
M: Close to full-bodied. Smooth and slightly syrupy but not in a bad way. Lacks the hop sharpness you sometimes get from DIPAs.
O: I expected better from Ballast Point. Needs bigger hop presence, in a big way. Drinks nice though.

On tap at 4th Avenue Pub, Brooklyn. I enjoyed this very much. Very well formulated; high alcohol but smooth, no burn. Not a hoppy IPA but not lacking in flavor. It fits perfectly on the third step where step one is a pale ale and step two an IPA.

Hardly a Double IPA, or even a single IPA for that matter. Light in looks and flavor, crisp and dry. Almost lager-like. Faint hop pressence. Not sure what they were going for here, but I'm not impressed.

Draught pour at City Tap House during their BP 20th Anniversary Party. Served in a tulip. Vibrant golden with 1+ fingers of medium density head that left ringed lacing. Nose is very grassy with earthy undertones. Taste almost inverts the earthy to grassy profile. Finish is mostly clean with a bit of ABV burn lingering. Mouthfeel is great, just enough body for the ABV, but still incredibly drinkable, with medium carbonation. Nice DIPA, wouldn't seek out but would definitely order again.

Sample while checking out the expo at HomeBrewCon.
Slightly hazy deep gold color with a decent head. Lightly spicy sweet maple with a solid hit of earthy pine hops to counter, works surprisingly well.
