One thing I wondered is that with more and more IPA's bringing on cantaloupe notes in their taste, why hasn't the fruit itself been used as an adjunct in some beers? Let's try it out. On-tap at the Temecula location, on to the beer:
Okay, this was a frustrating one to drink. Big Eye IPA is a pleasing IPA on its own, but in the cantaloupe version the base beer seems to be covered up. The aroma is very light with vague melons, and is actually quite dull. The taste isn't like that fortunately, as is actually very upfront with the cantaloupe, to the point where I can hardly notice the Big Eye IPA base besides its medium-full and chewy body. This one simply went to the pile of mediocrity.
