a little darker in shade than i remember other iterations of this being, but its quite good, a little different too. somewhat maltier than i am used to in the style, but its not real sweet, i think the extra grain heft helps promote the guava over the passion fruit, which is cool with me, so often guava is one of many tropical fruits in beer, especially sours, and it gets easily lost, in this case its more robust and really stands out on its own. good clarity to this, nice head as well, and an aroma of tangy passion fruit and citrus along with a relatively clean bacterial pucker, not overly acidic and not butyric like some of these have been to me in the past. the guava has a fleshy sweetness in the taste and in the finish, which the passion comes on with some lemon and the acidity, tropical but a little weighty with the fuller malt aspect. i thought this beer had a lot of character, and its high carbonation is nice. better than some of its relatives in this series, and the first interesting beer i have had from these guys in quite some time...
