something a little more exciting than anything else from ballast point has been of late, i was pumped to try this one. its mostly clear from the tap, golden and pale in color with a patchy white head on it and some spotty lacing as i drink on it. aroma is a little cheesy, kind of a weird wild bacterial element to it, but a lot of fresh juicy ripe peach and plenty of oak as well, immediately quite intriguing and complex, but i am also thankful for the fruit to soften the fermentation profile, which is a little overly acidic in the flavor, and still with a weird front end lactic stinky thing going on. some bretty funk on the back end though, and with the oak it tastes quite mature and evolved, but still the sweetness and natural forwardness of the peaches is what makes this beer, it wouldnt be anywhere near as good without them i dont reckon. the sourness is a little one dimensional, but there is a bretty character to it, and the brimming peaches add the complexity, along with the oak, that it needs. i think the body is a little thin and the acidity is a bit high for any real sessionability, but its a cool fruited sour, and somewhat more interesting and engaging than anything i have seen from them in ages. i hope this is a sign of more like this to come...
