Look is insane, big thick and delicious looking black with a big creamy head and tons of sticky lacing

smell is great, sour fruit, tobacco, prunes and cherries witha thick wine-like oak character

Taste is equally amazing - really big, nice creamy milky brett character with just the right amount of yeast funk, incredible sour flavour mixed with a huge roasted bitter malt character

Feel - solid, light and not slick

Overall this is a fantastic, unique sour that paired incredibly well with a roasty american stout - a unique and wonderful beer

Sampled at Stone Sour Fest yesterdat, reviewed from notes, Joey and a lot of other people around me were raving about this one, did not expect much at all but it turned out to be really tasty

A-Pretty much black with an obvious red tint, thin forthy head, disappeared immediately, not much retention or lacing, this one just looked awesome for some reason
S-Roasted malt, lots of different dark fruits, sour accents, oak, currants, cherries pretty much dominated the aroma after a little bit
T-I could taste a lot of sweet fruits at first, tart in the finish, could barely taste the porter aspect unless I kept it swishing around in my mouth for a long time, not too sour or vinegary which was nice
M-Sour, sweet, and roasty mouthfeel, thin to medium body, lots of carbonation for a porter but that is what a sour infused barrel will to you
D-Could have drank another taster or two, lots of cherries would make it old after a while, low enough ABV to make it sessionable though

I enjoy this beer by itself and the bourbon barrel version very much, so I was not surprised to find out this was good, one of the few dark beers that made the cut for me at the festival, Ballast Point does not seem to disappoint too much, would drink again but probably will not get the chance
