On cask at Churchill's Pub in San Marcos, CA. First time I've ever seen Ballast Point brewing company used their own spirits and wood to enhance the flavor of their own beer.
A - Pretty darn black (for a Porter) with a dark tan head
S - Lots of chocolate on the nose. Some whiskey for sure. Coffee of course.
T - Very coffee and whiskey forward on the pallet with a bitter finish. All the usual great some stuff from Victory at Sea. Vanilla, etc.
M - Very creamy and velvety. Moderate carbonation
D - A hefty one, but still really drinkable. The ballast point whiskey chips and the casks lend this beer to be even more amazing then usual. Hard to believe that it's a porter.
