On Tap
Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, Ca
Jet black, shiny, with a thin light brown cap. Sheets of lacing down the glass.
Sharply oak-forward aroma, with complements of roast and some mild chocolate character. The vanilla is somewhat lost in this variation.
The dominance of the oak comes through in the flavor as well, though the layers are more integrated than in the aroma. Combination of oak, chocolate, and coffee come together nicely, though there's very little if any bourbon character.
Medium to near full in body with low-moderate carbonation.
Good, but a bit too much raw oak flavor for my ultimate enjoyment. This certainly was a proper nightcap to an incredible evening at Churchill's.
