Poured from 32 oz growler into snifter.
A: Crystal clear crimson red with 2 finger light tan head. Nice retention but leaving light lacing.
S: Brandy, caramel, cherries, and vanilla.
T: Big brandy, sweet caramel, vanilla, raisins with a slightly spicy note that reminds me of rye.
M: Medium body with average carbonation. Finish is a little hot and slightly sweet.
O: Very nice beer with an interesting flavor profile.

Dark maple amber, laced tan foam. Strong boozy barrel, cane sugar and taro root. Rich and syrupy.

Had a 5oz pour on tap.
A: Very dark red, bordering borwnish black. Very little head.
S: Booze and sweet caramal. Booze is very very very strong.
T: Brandy... then some malty caramal and then more brandy. Followed with more brandy. Did I mention brandy? I did, well its worth another mention. Brandy. Taste like the bartender added a shot of brandy to the beer. Way too much brandy.
M: Dilute, thined out, it doesnt feel like a big BA barleywine.
O: Its a boozy mess. I got more brandy than barleywine. My first sip and I thought it was pure brandy (only a slight exaggeration).

On-tap at Hop City in Birmingham, and enjoyed while browsing their extensive but rather confusingly organized bottle selection. Sipping on this, I was in no hurry at all.
A: Clear, deep, near-black persimmon body under a finger of fine tan head that settles into a persistent ring. Nice.
S: Huge, sweet, fruity, and boozy. Vanilla, cherry, raisin, grape, caramel, and brandy. Great interplay of barrel and beer.
T: Follows the nose precisely. Caramel sweetness up front, complex dark fruits midway through, and huge oak/spirit presence on the back end. Delicious and decadent.
M: Slick, sticky, and lightly carbonated full body. A bit overbearing, but it suits the style.
O: My only complaint would be that it was quite boozy for 9%, but otherwise a genuinely delicious brew. This was a real treat to find on tap at a beer store, that's for sure.
Cheers!
