Pours a solid clear amber with no head, very little carbonation at all. Aroma is of caramel malts and a touch of yeast and faint green apple, no trace of hops.
Taste is watery and sour, almost tastes diluted. Flat, weak, flavors of tea that's been left out for a few days. Faint malt and yeast elements but still no hops to be found. Nothing much to report in the flavor department.
Mouthfeel is medium but still very watery, not light but with virtually no body. Not quite sour enough to be undrinkable but awful nonetheless. Did I get a bad bottle? It's possible. Are there any good bottles from this brewery?
(Although it's listed as Yellow Rose, I believe this was bought out and is now brewed by Great Grains in Dallas.)

Bought this in a pint bottle at the downtown Spec's in Houston, it's one of the few places in town that I know of that has Yellow Rose products. Also, for some reason, they only have Yellow Rose products in pint bottles, maybe that's the only way they come. Bubba Dog pours a nice hazy copper color and finishes with moderate head. Smell is clean, but nothing special. Bubba Dog tastes really good, and has hints of citrus or maybe honey. I didn't taste any bitterness that was noted in a few of the reviews. The only problem I had with the taste was that it left my mouth a little too quickly. I could easily drink a lot more of these in the future. I just wish these were more available in the Houston area, because they really aren't worth a trip half way accross town.

So, yeah, hey, Texas. Dude. And wheat beer. Why not? It was quite overcarbonated (I'm glad I stored it in the fridge!) on opening (and "pow!" the cap shoots off!). So I poured it very carefully into a glass... Even with a very careful pour, it was at least 1/3 white foam. It poured pretty bright yellow - nice and clear. Big old citrusy nose - lightly grainy but not in a malty way, perhaps more like supermarket bread.
I taste... I taste... I taste cloves and citrus and a wee touch of the banana and just a teeny zing - a hint of lactobacillus, perhaps?
It'd make a fine summer beer, I'm sure.

Pours like apple cider with no head or lacing. The aroma is sourish and fruity. Slick and undercarbonated body, with a really unpleasant flavor. I didn't even know this was supposed to be a wheat beer. The flavor is kind of what a Flemish Sour would taste like if it sat out for a couple days. It is just sour and fruity throughout. The finish is fruity like cider and the tart sourness lingers. So far the Yellow Rose beers have been thorough disappointments.

This is a decent Wheat as far as wheatÂ’s go. As far as Wheat beers from Texas - This rocks. Let's face it - a helluva lot of Germans immigrated to Texas back in the days of ole' west. Along with them came a lot of great beer making knowledge. The thing they were lacking was the weather and the ingredients Germany had. Now you have a Texan version and I think to review based on that. Pours a hazy orangey amber color with a decent head that settles to antique lace. (Lots of holes) The nose is a bit lacking but still has the malty citrus to it. Very fruity and citrusy taste, gives way to the malt and then a tickle of hops. This is a very drinkable beer. Not the best from Yellow Rose - But still excellent and a 1996 Silver medal winner at the World Beer Championship. This is also a very smooth well balanced beer and a very clean finish.

According to the label, this beer is dedicated to Bubba Dog, a forgotten hero of the Alamo. It pours a hazy golden orange color with a thick and foamy white head. The aroma is dominated by scents of wheat with a hint of citrus. The flavor is a bit bland but is wheaty and clean tasting. Not much of a wheat beer.
