Had this one on cask at The Ruck in Troy, N.Y. This batch was advertised as dry-hopped with Simcoe hops.
Cloudy and golden-amber. Big, fluffy head and lacing.
Smells of sweet malt, biscuit, tea, some grassy hop flavors. Light notes from the Simcoe, but this smells like an English-style beer for sure.
Hops are much more assertive in the flavor than the aroma. Some catty grapefruit notes from the Simcoe over a biscuity, bready backbone. Nicely balanced. Somewhat dry and bitter.
Smooth, creamy, medium mouthfeel.
I liked this better than the regular Saratoga IPA, definitely. The Simcoe definitely tips this one toward the American end of the IPA spectrum.
