Cellar dweller series, aged 5 yrs (!) in a keg.

Pour is nearly black with a thin, tight cap of mocha foam.

Aroma of cocoa, molasses, clove, alcohol, anise.

Taste is caramel, burnt sugar and prunes giving way quickly to roasted malt, coffee, and tannins. A hint of licorice and a solid roasted grain bitterness in the finish. Raisins, slick alcohol and sherry notes come out as it warms up a bit.

Full, creamy mouthfeel and gentle carbonation. A bit of oiliness that is not at all off-putting.

Fantastic quad that is really more of a Belgian stout. Fruity notes are there but under represented (or covered by the roastiness). Not as vinous as the barrel-aged version but quite rich and satisfying. If this available, you must try it.

this was over carbonated and for being a special over several years i think there are many better choices at the local stores that sell contract brews better than this ,. definatly over priced and the industrail feel was not a great setting , i would have been in a plant making a better quality of brew

served in a snifter

out of their june selection, this was their best.

pours dark, almost black with a thin tan head.

smells rich with a taste of expresso and roasted malt. nice taste, mostly a coffee/chocolate start with a nice roast finish, some what dry, but not too much. feels heavy with a grit to it. almost like there was still some coffee grind in the beer.

overall nice beer, but still needs a bit more flavor.
