On-tap at the brewpub.

Pours a hazy orange-copper color with a one-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a thin layer on top leaving decent lacing.

Smells of pine hops along with mild amounts of a gummy bear aroma that I've come to associate with gooseberries all backed by pale malt aromas As the beer warms the pine hop aromas intensify

Tastes similar to how it smells. Pale malt flavors are overtaken almost immediately by loads of pine and spruce flavors. Midway through the sip the pine recedes just a bit to make room for gooseberries and light citrus flavors that carry through to a solidly bitter ending. As with the aroma the pine influence grows as the beer warms and hints of vanilla hit right before the ending as well.

Mouthfeel is alright. It has a nice thickness however the initial carbonation is a bit on the harsh side although a quarter of the way through a few vigorous swishes of the glass helped improve things

Drinkability is good. I finished my glass without a problem and could have another.

Overall this was a solid beer and I enjoy seeing single-hopped IPA's. I see Nelson Sauvin as being similar to Chinook but with a bit more sweetness. Definitely worth a shot to see for yourself.

Appearance: Deliver to my corner of the bar a head, burnished orange body with a dense, frothy head with a slight yellow tinge to it.

Smell: Bright hop aroma imparts inviting notes of white grapes, zippy spices, and fresh flower petals. In back are the mild, lightly toasty notes of pale malts.

Taste: Pale malts accompanied by tastes of both French bread and crumpled biscuits serves as a light platform to launch us into the Nelson Sauvin hop character. The hops are zesty, floral, spicy and impart hints of white grape and lychee. Also, the slackened malts provide a nicely bold bitterness to come through. The beer is quite dry on the back half and finish with some of that bitterness enduring into the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Just speaks into medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A pleasant ale utilizing a strikingly unique hop. As dear glid would say, it's worth a shot!
