Received in trade from Grant - Thanks ever so much.

Shared with several at Woodshop 5.1. Hand bottle, no label, corked and caged. Nice pop when opened is certainly a good omen. Pours a sparkling copper/amber color into tulip glass with an off-white decent head which fades slowly leaving some clingy lace. Smells of sweet hay, some funk, a little sour and fruits. Taste of grape skins, tart oak tannin, complex mellow malt and grain with a dry hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is smooth, sweet and I was pleasantly surprised with the fine carbonation since this was originally from a cask. Overall, very drinkable and enjoyable. Would absolutely seek this one out.

Thanks to Greg for sharing this one.

A: The pour is amber in color with a slightly off-white head that is quite fluffy.

S: A very nice spice note to the nose along with a fair amount of earthiness and some citrus. A touch of funk and a nice grape fruitiness along with just a hint of tartness.

T: The beer is fairly sweet with a good malt component as well as some fruit character: citrus, pears, and sweet apples which goes nicely with the spiced quality. The wine barrel contributes a bit of grape and tart flavors.

M: Medium body with a moderate yet creamy, rolling carbonation.

D: One of the best beers of the day. Really tasty and possibly the best Saison I've had.

On cask at the brewpub, this will also be available in bottles at some point.

Pours a surprisingly clear reddish-copper color with a slowly cascading off-white head. The head eventually settles into a thin cap on top leaving thick lacing.

Smells of concorde grapes - more complex than normal white or red grapes but without the mild earthiness from muscadines. Also present are good amounts of grainy malts and milder amounts of funk but the real star here are the grapes.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Slightly grainy malt flavors kick things off and are joined almost immediately by huge hits of flavors from the barrel, mostly the flavor version of the aromas described above. Very mild amounts of oak serve to mellow things out and right before the end of the sip leafy hop flavors add a touch of bitterness.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with soft carbonation.

Drinkability is great. I finished my glass quickly and also polished off another, although it could have been many more.

Overall this took what was already my favorite base beer from this brewpub and brought it to another level. Well worth a shot if you have the chance.
