I stopped into Bessette's the other day. It was about a 2 hour drive from where I live in Ottawa. The place sure doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside they had a fair amount of beer on the shelves. Most of the store has stuff like Miller Lite and Budweiser, but near the back they have 3 sets of shelves with various 6 packs of craft beers. Prices seemed okay.. it was 12.99 for a 6 pack of Victory, and 11.99 for a 6 pack of Lost Coast. They also had a small selection of single bottles near the front, and they let me split up 2 or 3 6-packs to I could try one bottle. They also had another small rack with some bombers ranging in price from 4.99 to 11.99. I'm not sure how many people actually buy the craft beer from there, so I don't think the stock turns over very fast. Most of the beer I bought didn't have a date on it, but a few of the ones that did were expired. (I noticed when I got home) Also, most of the 6 packs had dust on them. All in all, I guess it's better than nothing; but next time I'll drive a little further to try a better store in NY State.
