355ml can, billed as a 'ginger lager', and made with 100% Saskatchewan barley, in the prairies, just in case one was wondering.

This beer pours a clear, rather pale golden straw, er 'colour', with three fat fingers of puffy, surprisingly tight foamy and at once bubbly and fizzy off-white head, which leaves a bit of shy, low-lying coral reef lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of faintly spicy ginger ale (heh), bready pale malt, a bit of flinty stoniness, and weak earthy, weedy hops. The taste is more slightly zingy ginger, further removed from the hospital soft drink association, gritty pale malt, a bit of wet white breakfast biscuit, a touch of yeast, and earthy, leafy, and floral hops.

The carbonation is quite involved in its pervasive, but actually quite gentle frothiness, the body medium-light in weight, and just about as smooth as the ginger is spicy - there's an inversely proportionate relationship going on there. It finishes off-dry, the Canada Dry essence coming 'round full circle, with the pale malt standing in for the generic sugar of this analogy.

Well, there is some ginger bite to this offering, but it's more of a nip, than anything that you should fear invading your nasal passages - which is to say that it outperforms the vast majority of other ginger beers on the market (don't even get me started on Crabbies) in ginger veracity. While the base beer isn't worth writing home about, that's hardly the point here - ginger, man!
