Above-average Amber ale, good-not-great, worth the money.

On-tap at Sweet Home Chicago:

Pours bright copper with a thin head that descends to a lasting white patch. Lacing sticks.

The smell is very mild - I would use the word weak, even. Inoffensive. It just has a slight caramel with subtle toast aroma.

The taste is even more mild. Nothing "off" or "inoffensive. But, rather bland. Slight caramel with a touch of toast to keep it balanced. Sweet kiss in the abrupt finish.

Like the aroma and taste, the feel is thin as well. The carbonation level works well enough,, but it is watery.

This is a boring brew. Light with hardly any character.

$6.99 USD per sixer of 12 fl oz cans at a beer store in Colorado.

"Double aged" "copper ale." Brewed with two-row, roasted black malts, caramel malts, and "five choice hop varietals." 5.2% ABV.

Pours a clear vibrant copper body and a frothy white head that lasts 10+ minutes.

Aroma hints at toasted malt and caramalt with some honeyed sweetness in there too but no overt hoppy or yeasty notes.

Taste isn't great...it's on the sweeter side but tolerable. Caramalt, honeyed sweetness, generic 2-row. Unwelcome butterscotch/creamy notes. Simple and shallow, but not particularly well balanced.

A bit more graininess wouldn't hurt, and it's lacking hop flavour - not that I really expect much in a beer branded a "copper ale."

Texture: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, well-carbonated, somewhat refreshing. A bit buttery.

Overall: Not a great beer nor an incredibly drinkable one. Budweiser Reserve is a tastier "copper beer." Not budget enough to be a worthwhile budget beer nor remarkable enough to compete with craft and/or micro(-)brews. Pretty mediocre fare across the board.

Tastes like a badly executed mild ale...throw this on nitro and it could pass for one of those Guinness one-offs they keep testing the market with.

Low C- (2.56) / BELOW AVERAGE

L: Pours a brilliant amber orange color with a small white head and no lacing on the glass.

S: Sweet malt, including caramel and toffee, a slight floral hop presence, simple but very inviting.

T: Sweet malt, some caramel, and toffee, a light bit of butterscotch, slight hop presence, very crushable.

F: Crisp and some prickly carbonation.

O: A crisp and easy drinking amber ale with a nice taste.

341ml bottle poured into tulip 21/11/15

A clear lets say copper colored liquid wits a fair amount of bubbles but pretty much nothing nothing for head or lace

S has a strange nutty banana bread thing going on that makes no sense whatsoever, really though WtF's going on here, grassy, metallic, some hard toffee, all over the place and not at all what I'm expecting from a copper ale

T some dried fruit and strange yeast, again nothing makes sense, nothing really bad but I don't know what to make of it

M lighter side of medium, airy, slick on the palate, nutty, vanilla of all things on the finish

O nothing here adds up, this ones all over the place and strange flavors I never expected to find in this style

I think I need a palate check, just an odd brew all-around maybe I'm just crazy but I just can't put this one together
