A: the pour is meaty. It looked as viscous as oil with a black muddy haze. However, not a single piece of whipped topping can be claimed, only a small fizzy ring at the top. I amped my pour appropriately and still no change up top. Some of the smallest dabs and blobs of lace I have seen. Anyway, this thing is friggen black

S: a good dose of roasted malts, fudge-like chocolates, a scent of coffee, and faint free smells of earthy alcohol

T: first off, the coffee flavor is much more intense as well as a warming alcohol affect. I can still pull out a good chunky wave of roasted malts drizzled with some molasses, bitter chocolate, and maybe a few pieces of black licorice

The flavors are rather rich overall and exhibit a definite espresso bitterness towards the back as well as lingering flavor of grainy alcohol. Sometimes the dark flavors make me think of words like "smoked," "coconut" and "fruity" from the oak aging I imagine, rather unique how everything is coming together

M: I find glassy to best describe this beer. Things are pretty creamy and thin in some ways...maybe that means lush? In any event, the body is heavy and motionless in the glass

D: not sure if I like the things going on in this one. Rich in flavor and a buzz with alcohol as it warms...this is a definite sipping brew

Poured from a 22 oz bomber to a pint glass.

Appearance: Very thin amount of carbonation results in almost zero head. Inky dark motor oil color.

Aroma: Complex nose. Fruity with grapes, raisins and plums. Alcoholic with oak notes.

Flavor: Very vinous and sour. Begins with a dark chocolate stout taste but quickly fades behind the big sourness and small hints of oak. It might be a little old or something, because it is certainly more like a wild ale than an imp. stout. No best buy date on bottle. I wonder if the barrel-aging was a little too aggressive as this beer doesn't have many characteristics of a stout.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, but not creamy. A little too sour to have too many of these.

From notes. Black, thinnest of mocha heads fades immediately. No lacing.

SMELL Roasted barley, coffee, licorice. Faint overall. Some esters and more body with a swirl.

TASTE Good level of roast with sweet malty body balancing. Chocolate, coffee, licorice flavors, boozy esters, and some hop bitterness in the background.

FEEL low carbonation/almost kind of flat, oily, viscous, rich and full.

OVERALL low carbonation a drawback for sure. Tastes great and has some potential with some tweaks.

Thanks for the bottle Andre! 22 oz bottle poured into a snifter produced a dark black color with little head. There was minimal lacing throughout the sample. I found this beer to be very tasty with a heavy roasted malt profile, chocolate and oak/vanilla. The carbonation felt out of kilter and it was a little thin. If I had this beer during a blind tasting I would have thought that it was a porter. Anyhow, this beer was tasty and if they can fix the carbonation and thinness then they will have a stellar product.

Opened with no pop at all. No best by date on bottle. Typical stout black with an espresso colored head. Quickly dissipates into a film. Hint of marshmellow on the aroma with some oak. Little bit of phenol, cocoa nibs, vanilla. Tad tannic on the nose, good stout richness. Not super heavy, with a good oak presence. Good vanilla sweetness, oaky finish. This one has roastiness, oak, vanilla, maybe some prunes. OK certainly not bad.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of this feisty imperial stout benefit the local chapter of the Black Panther Party in McMinnville.

The pour begins with agonizing slowness, for the nitro-infused body is thick and moves like warm molasses. I wait with a growing sense of anticipation as the barmaid fills the snifter. At first, my wait is rewarded with a shaved chocolate aroma and an espresso-like collar on an ebony body. The taste presents with a strong showing of alcohol in an odd mix of sherry and Kahlúa. Golden Valley ages Black Panther for two months in French oak wine barrels. It’s not clear whether these wine barrels previously aged wine, but the sherry notes suggest they have.

Unfortunately, as the beer warms, it fails. The sherry notes move in to nudge out the chocolate fragrance and a slew of fusels hints dangerously at kerosene. The mouthfeel presents as a bit constrained and doesn’t benefit from the nitro. Too bad. I wanted to like Black Panther, but by mid-glass it simply falls apart.

Oh, and I was kidding about the Black Panther Party of McMinnville. Did you seriously believe there was a Black Panther Party in McMinnville? Ha!

had an 05 and 06 vertical from draft, the black panther poured pitch black with a small, dense dark tan collar leaving thick lace.
The smell was strong and very roasty.
The taste was classic imperial stout, roasty and rich, but much to oaky for me. I'm 50/50 on barrel aged beers, but oak and imp. stout is not a combo that works for me. The 05 was smoother tasting malt but more oak then the 06.
The mouthfeel was thick and oily.
This is a real sipper, although no indication of ABV (which is not really that high for an Imp. Stout). I didn't care for the oak, hence didn't find it that drinkable.

This is on tap and limited bottling in 22 oz. They only serve it in a 12 oz. serving. It came to the table a little cold and with a minimal head. This is black. And the nose is just wonderful malt and toffee.

The mouth feel is rich and creamy. It has a long lasting finish thick finish like a milk shake.

It has a deep rich brandy like flavor. Carmel, toffee, malt and big big sweetness. This finishes with a very slight bittness.

This is a drinkable beer. A 22 oz bottle should be just fine for an evening by the fire. A 2nd 22 oz bottle and you'd definately sleep very well.

Sampled from a competition bottle leaked out of a top secret tasting lab.

Deep black with a dark brown frothy head

Aroma is roast and butter witha vague burnt anise.

Flavor is agressively roasty with a strong hop bite that plays with coffee and other flavors to a vanilla and chocolate sweet finish
