0.33l bottle, weird stein, bottled 27 May 18.
First, this is a different beer than their regular Pils. This is the one in the funny bottle with a green label that you can see along with the regular Pils on their website. If my nonexistent German is correct, it’s for real beer lovers. Now for the beer, and what a stereotypical perfectly clear golden lager it is. The head is nothing to sneeze at either, with a beautiful finger of retention.
There’s a sweetness behind the grassy, coarse aroma.
It is quite sweet, with little of the grainy of the best Pilsners. It does retain a moderate amount of bitterness and grassy, even floral, hop flavors, and its dignity with them.
It’s noticeably less carbonated than most of its peers and I have a hard time deciding if this helps or hurts. While being far softer, it doesn’t really enhance anything.
Having not had the normal Pilsner, it’s impossible to say how this is different, but it isn’t a hell of a lot different from any other Pilsner out there.
