32oz grunt filled at the Orlison Taproom in Spokane for $10. For what it’s worth, the brewery calls this an “India Pale Lager brewed with rye”, not an imperial pilsener.
Poured into a Widmer nonic pint glass, this was a clear and coppery shade of amber. Big, thick, sudsy beige colored head, lots of lace.
Rye malt and hops greet the curious nose.
Spicy rye malt flavor hits the taste buds first, and is quickly paired with piney hop notes. The finish is dry, crisp and clean.
The body is somewhere between light and medium, leaning towards the latter. Slightly oily mouthfeel.
Ever wonder what a lager version of a rye IPA would taste like? I don’t. I now know it tastes delicious. I would definitely drink this again.
