Pours clear, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is big basil, pilsner malt, and devent ginger taste that shows at the end. Light bodied, sweet, with high carbonation and some heat at the end. Herbal and chili beers are some of the toughest to pull off..combine that with a good pilsener and wow. One of the most basil forward beers I have ever had...Super unique and it still tastes like beer...I have seen so many of these types of beers go way south...This is an awesome and pleasant surprise with just enough heat to be a chili beer. Would be excellent with pho..Not sure if this is sn everyday beer, but it is a damn good one.

Brewer describes this as being made with basil, lime, Sichuan pepper, and ginger. Fortunately it doesn't taste too much like any one of them. There's a slight peppery heat to start, and then it gets hot and minty in the back of the throat after some sipping. It's weird how the heat grows and grows-- actually kind of alarming. I still don't think it's enough actual flavor that I would describe it as a Chile Beer.
Some basil in the aroma adds to the interest. It's quite sharp and even acidic. Appearance is yellow gold color with a modest bit of foam in the Affligem chalice. Some carbonation to start but it flattens out by the end of the glass. Interesting herbal concoction but not one that invites me to return. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham, Wash.
