Bottled and sadly clear glass
Copper-red, with more of the latter than former and no head. Has a thinnish tasting malty-sweetness. Its nose provides the ales best fruity character

A 500ml clear glass bottle with a BB of Oct 2014. Picked up recently from a supermarket. The label calls it 'full-bodied, malty and fruity'. We shall see.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear reddish-brown colour with low carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy beige foam that lasts for a few minutes before disappearing. Aroma of vaguely fruity malt with hints of mild roasted grain, Greene King yeast, faint grass and stewed hops. Not much going on.
Tastes of roasted malt with a touch of fruitiness and a bitter finish. Notes of caramel, roasted grain, fruity ale yeast, grass/hay, stewed hops and a twinge of cardboard. Slightly harsh, followed by a leafy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and lightly tingly, with soft carbonation and a fairly thin body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity malt and bitter stewed leaves.
Meh. Not very Christmas-like, more of an identikit GK brew that fails to stand out from the crowd (or its peers). Lacklustre looks and an aroma/flavour of fruity malt and stewed hops. Weak body. Can't say that this one really excites the senses - nothing wrong with it apart from being dull as ditchwater. Give it a miss.

Christmassy label with plenty of red and white.
Deep tawny red colour and very distinctive. Tight off white head which lasts.
Roasted malt with some fruit.
Slightly bitter. No big taste.
Gentle mouthful.
Not a Christmas Ale despite it's name. A nice English Bitter.
