One of three special ales brewed for JDW pubs for The World Cup 2006, as a real-ale alternative to "World Lagers" during the tournament. This one, named after the glorious year when England won its only World Championship title (and exactly 900 years after England was conquered by Duke William, a French-ised Norman!!), is the strongest one, at 4.3%abv.(!!)--designed to quaff, for sure. Tasted by half-pint at my local Spoon's pub, the Half Moon, East End London.
A: bright amber hue, coming with a thin foamy beer head, leaving tight lacing behind--looking fresh and decent!
S: flowery(sweet osmanthus)+faintly lychees... fragrant hops dominate the nose, a bit of a cross b/w German and American hops? Very pleasant, if not too complex.
T: a full mouthful of floral fragrant hoppyness (as of "sweet osmanthus"), on top of mild citric fruity hints; a mildly sour-sweet malty overtone ensues, leaving a moderate, floral bitterness lingering in the finish along with more floral fragrance lurking all over the mouth...
M&D: the body holds quite well, from the first second through to the last; light-bodied and refreshing, but a "gravity" is retained--overall this is a quaffable bitter/pale ale, not bad at all (despite my despise of GK's bullying behaviour...).

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
