One of three special ales brewed for JDW pubs for The World Cup 2006. This one is named after one of Sven's (England football team's coach) favourable formations--"one votes for it by drinking it", the pump-clip implies. Tasted by half-pint at my local Spoon's pub, the Half Moon, East End London.
A: orangey amber hue, a creamy off-white beer head sustains well, leaving extremely tight lacing like white curtains hung down the walls of the glass.
S: lightly apple-ish fruity aroma plus Goldings' spicy edge, on top of enticing malty overtone. Pretty straight-forward but nice.
T: bitter-sweet biscuity maltiness upfront, slightly toffeeish; followed by a faint tinge of Fuggles-hops and a tea-ish profound bitterness, while assertive herbs and woods linger in the end, leaving a tangy and bitter finishing touch.
M&D: light-plus bodied, smooth textured. The beer benefits from a good, lingering bitterness and a rather balanced profile. Quaffable bitter.
