Bottled in 500ml of sadly clear glass and purchased from Chorlton Morrisons on the way to a Trafford and Hulme CAMRA committee meeting
Pours a cola looking body with good tan head
Aroma is roasty coffee and a sadly present metallic ting
Flavour is pontefract cakes, dried fruit for fruitcake and unfortunately that metallic element again

L- Pitch black when held to lamp-light, 3cm tan head that holds well.
S- Roasty-toasty, traditional, nice.
T- Some brief rich malt into a deeper roasting. A hint of coffee into a dry hoppy facet. Very nice, very trad.
F- Overall dry and to the lighter-side in the mouth. Countered by it's bold flavour^, those hops linger.
O- I'm not a born stout drinker and bought this as it is new to me. I'm most impressed that a stout of a modest 4.2% can do this much. This blows away the usual stouts that you will find in a typical pub.
Bought from Morrisons, Norwich 500ml bottle BB laser-etched at neck but hard to find, Apr/2025.

Bottle. Treacle black with a thin fizzy head.
Smells of over caramelised sugar, mild coffees grounds, chocolate and peat.
Tastes of leafy cocoa and muted liquorice.
On the thin side. Low carbonation.
Not too bad at all.
