Do not visit Booze Mart. I won't.

But I'll start with the relatively good stuff. The selection is good, especially for the area, & they have Surly. All of their beer is stored cold, obviously a good thing. They try to nab a lot of good locals as well as they latest-and-greatest, though they're not always successful. So they have that going for them.

The people who work there rang from clueless to arrogant to having too much fun laughing amongst themselves to help anyone. That I could forgive, but because of the pretty good selection, & the area of town it's in, beware! Buying any pale ale of IPA at Boozemart is a crap-shoot you're likely to lose. Stout? Feel free. IPA? Walk away.

The prices rang from decent to outrageous for singles...last time I was in, $4 for a can of Furious. Really. Most of the stuff is in line with other stores, but there have been more than a few prices that have made me scratch my head & wonder if the pricing guru really knows what they're looking at.

The combination of assholishness on the part of the folks working & being burned on IPAs/Pales, as well as some truly bad pricing, have led me to go elsewhere. Too bad, since it's close to my house, but I'd rather support stores that actually give a damn about their product & customers.

I've been here a few times in the last couple of weeks, and each I've been more than happy with my stop. Every time I've been here, the selection surprises me with something I'll see on the shelf I'd never heard of, which means I either haven't seen enough beer (probably true) or they do a good job increasing their selections (probably true too).

Service is usually pretty good, if you ask for a certain item one of the employees will help you find it. Sometimes they are a little busy and you'll have to wait for help, but it is a retail store-happens everywhere you go. Pricing is certainly in the same range as the rest of the Twin Cities, so I have no problems returning here again!

I live relatively close to this location and I'm glad that I happened upon it about a year ago as I've been going back since to pick up my weekly allotment of beer. Since that time the selection has grown exponentially. I particularly like the fact that this store devotes significant shelf space to craft beer, most of which is refrigerated. The singles section is impressive as well. Even though this store does not always get the "latest and greatest" flash-in-the pan type beer of the week, Booze Mart carries a solid selection of craft beer which always prompts repeat visits. The service is impeccable, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about beer. Granted it doesn't look like much from the outside, but this is a hidden gem within West St. Paul that is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

I have visited this store before and after the renovations. I am impressed with the renovations.

I am editing my review because I have revisited the store and can say that it was like visiting a whole new store.

Walking into the store I immediately noticed a sign leading me to a create your own 6 pack selection. Prices seemed about average per bottle. There was a very nice variety in the mix 6 selection. I have heard that there about 140 beers in the mix 6 selection and I believe it.

There was a very nice selection of packaged beer as well, one of the better selections that I have seen in the area.

Overall, this store is kind of a hidden gem.

I was excited to visit this store after talking to other BAs last fall at the Autumn Beer Fest(hearing of an expansion). I vistited this store on a Monday early afternoon. Upon entering the door of this average looking "strip center", I was greeted by a young lady. Making my way into the store, and heading to the right towards the coolers, I was greeted by green, a full door of green...Heineken,Pils Urquell and other "green" bottles. After passing that up, I headed down the set of cooler doors that were more like billboards for the Miller,B&C companies, but that should not come as a surprise, being that the current owner use to own a Miller wholesale business in the Twin Cites. They do have a lot of beers, I would guess around 600, they have ALL the packages of M,B,C, including a couple of package sizes of Miller Chill. Making my way around the store I started to discover the more interesrting collection of craft and import beers I came for. They do have a fairly nice selection of items, but there is one thing that worries me, it seems like they, as do alot of the "new HOT beer stores" are just in it to make the "HOT" money. They get in to "IT" and order everything that is "craft" or "NEW", they order everything that their sales person offers. This is a bad way to run a "beer store". This might explain why they have beers out of date, and are still selling 5LTRs of Bells Oberon(not that this is bad, but this shows that the traffic flow is not there). Buyers need to know what they are buying, or just shop at the proven shops.

They have expanded their beer selection to have cold cases all around the perimeter of the building. Selection is fantastic. I am not sure how many different beers they have in total, but it rivals most anywhere...particularly in American craft beers. I . All told I think I counted over a dozen 5 liter mini barrels! The staff is great...helpful...a great experience! I spoke at length with who I believe is the owner on my last visit ( I should have asked!) and he was so interested in discussing all of the different beers relative to pricing..etc. It seems to be a most unlikely destination...being in West St. Paul...but it is well worth the effort to get up there. I have been telling all of my friends who enjoy great beer that they have to get there...for the selections as well as the pricing structure!

I have visited the Boozemart before and been unimpressed. Nice, clean store with good prices but minimal selection of craft beers. They have apparently recently remodeled the store and the results are phenomenal.

The whole left hand wall and back wall of the store were ripped out and replaced with reach-in coolers stocked with crafts and imports. A full selection of Founders, Surly, Tyranena, Dark Horse, Lagunitas, Rogue, Futhermore, Lift Bridge, New Holland, Bells, Goose Island.... if it's available in Minnesota it looks like it's here. I asked how long ago they expanded the craft lineup and apparently the new coolers went in a few weeks ago, so everything is brand new and fresh!

In addition, they installed a tasting bar in the front - while I was there they were doing a Magic Hat sampling and it looks like they will have 3-4 beers available to sample at any time.

The staff was friendly, they were really busy (Friday night) so they didn't really bug me or have an opportunity to offer help.

Bottom line - if you've never been to Boozemart, the selection alone is worth the visit. If you've been before, go back, it's changed for the better.

Stop in here often.
The crappy strip mall is a bleak facade, but inside is a different story. Very nice, well lit tastefully decorated store. Around 20 doors on the cooler, along with a large open front chiller as well. Minimal warm beer shelf and not many bombers or single bottles.

The service would get a much lower score if it wasn't for the fact that the store is employed by a bunch of beautiful 20 year old girls. I'm sure they know nothing about the brews they ring up, but I'm going to have to let that one slide.

Selection is above average for the area. Dark Horse, Tyranea, Surly, and all the other usual suspects. Downside, almost no singles. The owner is ambitious about beer, but I am not sure they know where to go from where they are.

I have been into Boozemart on a few occassions. Its not my normal haunt, but I check in from time to time to find what is new or not available elsewhere. The selection is pretty decent. Plenty of Breckenridge, New Belgium and obviously all of the local guys. They seem to be more well stocked of the Twin Cities brewers than most of the local stores. The lone exception is that I haven't seen Surly. Brewer's Cave, Flat Earth, Summit and Schell's are all well represented. There are some Wisconsin beers I hadn't seen before, but was trying to keep costs down tonight. In the past they have had samples of wines and liquours to try. Tonight they Reese's PB cups at the register and my kids thought it was great. Kids. . .another reason I didn't buy much tonight. Anyway, I found some things to try. There is always something and lately I find myself checking in at 5 or 6 different stores regularly to find something new while I build my homebrew supply up.

The service varies. Some days very friendly and outgoing. Other days you are left to your devices. If you have questions, they get answered. Plenty of wine, liquour and macro beer surely keeps a flow of non-BA type drinkers going through, so that must be considered. Actually that should be considered everywhere. They do a nice job of stocking this place. I will continue to pop in periodically. I may be in soon for the beers I didn't collect up tonight.

Quality. . . its clean, well lit and well organized. That is quality to me. Not as cramped as some stores.

Selection. . .adequate as I have previously stated.
