Long Ireland Beer Company

Small brewery in what once might have been a convenience store with short service bar a few tables inside and a large outdoor patio out back with a dozen or so picnic tables. 11 beers on tap, the one I had was solid. Friendly service; laid back atmosphere.

 

I decided to check out Long Ireland Beer company out with my brother-in-law on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I had had some of their offerings locally (which were good) and thought it would be worth a look. The building itself, which is basically a blockhouse, I assume is largely a functional brewery and has ample parking.

The serving space is no more than 300 sq. ft., with a bar that has twelve taps and a range of styles. The place was busy the day I visited. There are only a few tables inside (although one can seat about 10 people) with a picnic style table outside. The venue is pretty nondescript and the vibe is almost entirely one of inexpensive (read cheap) functionality.

Flights are available, but for them one must order the beers one at a time and reuse the same glass (apparent a Long Ireland convention). 16 oz cups, 32 and 64 oz growlers are available, and 6 packs of 16 oz canned beers are kept in a cold case, where the selection consisted entirely of one beer, the Summer Ale.

The beers themselves ranged from good to really quite good: I was particularly impressed by the Saison, NoFo Farmhouse Ale, and the Imperial Stout, Black Friday. If you are going for the beer, definitely worth a trip; if it's ambiance you are seeking ...

Rather Lange tasting room with some additional outdoor seating. Very friendly staff. Flights are basically $8 for four five ounce pours poured one at a time (you are given tokens to bring up for your next beer). Selecton and variety of beers is very good, however the quality of most beers is sub par.

 

 

Went to the Black Friday event in November of 2014. It was my most memorable stop of the day I spent in Riverhead. Did a flight (in which they let you make the choices as you go) and did their Black Friday special. Enjoyed them all and enjoyed the NY / Long Island Beer mementos displayed. Informal friendly atmosphere. It was a bit of a trek out from Queens but would like to make it again some year.

Nice place. Fairly large and they allow dogs inside. Delicious brews - my only dislike is the limited number of beers per flight. They are chosen in the form of tokens - DIPA costing 2 tokens. I forget how many tokens you get for $X, but i do remember being torn multiple times on what to spend them on. Which only means they always have a solid selection on tap (10-12 brews?). Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Overall great place. Will visit again.

Very cool place to be. Definitely an up and coming brewery on eastern long island. With all the vineyards and brewery's popping up everywhere this one definitely sticks out. Great beer and great people with a huge tap selection
