Again, at the brewpub today. Pouring light yellow, this beer has a nice, dense white head with good retention and lacing. An appealing looking pilsner. The nose is rather weak, lacking in any real character. There's a little sweetness and some hop character, and despite my best efforts, I couldn't discern much. The palate is a lot more flavorful, but not in a good way. There's a moderate sweetness, simple and sugar-like, along with a rather big bitterness. Way too hoppy for a pils (for my palate, at least), this beer has an oily, resiny hop character, along with a prominent Saaz bitterness. Drying and bitter on the finish, this beer is very clean, an indication of good fermentation, but the high bitterness does detract from what could be an excellent beer. Light in body, this is something I was really hoping to enjoy, but it's still a work in progress
