Draft at the brewpub served in a standard shaker pint. Golden amber in color with a small off-white cap. On the nose and palate, this one comes as a fairly average new world Oktoberfest. Caramel and bready toasted grain, on the sweeter side, with subtle touches of grassy hops. Sweet on the palate with only a slight bitterness to balance things out. Moderate in body and carbonation. Not good, not bad.

On tap at the Ruddy Duck into a standard pint glass

A - clear, medium orange color with no head. Tiny bubbles try to form one but they just don't have it in them.

S - If I closed my eyes I wouldn't know there was beer in my glass. Sadly this is another in the long line of beers from the Duck that virtually NO nose. Not sure why or what is causing this but it let's me down every time.

T - a middling attempt at the German octoberfest style. To sweet, to weak and just enough character or bite. This is undeniably target at the American version (aka Sam Adams etc). It's drinkable but completely lackluster.

M - the sweetness causes it to be near cloying. It doesn't QUITE get there but close enough to not be desired. Just too heavy on the palate for such a weak beer.

O - at 5.5% it's fairly sessionable, but the praise ends there. Just too average (or below so in a few areas) to be of any note. I really would like to see this brewery take some risks. Without doing that there will never be any buzz about their beer.
