Sampled on tap at O'Briens in San Diego
The tap version of this super double IPA has a higher carbonation than the cask version as would be expected. It still has the ridiculously strong pine and citrus aroma that warns of impending hoppiness. The hop flavor is complex and changes in your mouth. On the first taste, it does this for like 8 seconds before settling into a lingering hop leaf flavor with mild bitterness. The bitterness is intense but not harsh. The malt doesn't seem to come through as much in this version but it is still well balanced. The tongue fatigues quickly but can be revived with short break or a sip of water. I pondered the question of whether this was better than the Alpine Exponential Hoppiness. It's too tough to decide. It's awesome that they can be so different despite being hop monsters.

Cask @ Real Ale Fest
The beer poured a deep amber with a nice head and decent lace, with the nose full of hops, sweet and fresh to the senses. Finish was mellow in the carbonation, the hops biting and the aftertaste quite dry, a good I2PA, but not really as strong as many doubles, drinkable none-the-less.
