Draught at the brewery. Hazy gold without much of a head. Aroma is pretty much straight hops: citrus and floral. The flavor is an abundance of citrus and piney hops. Very resiny. Not too much malt to balance things. Medium body with crisp carbonation. Very hop leaning IPA, but not enough malts to balance it and make it more pleasant to drink.

Poured a golden yellow with no carbo or head to speak of. mmmm No! Bad IPA. It was bitter yes but the hops were not here. No real tasting traits to name other than bittenress on the drink and aftertaste. The Crybaby is not one of the best beers here.

Note: The recent batch, in my opinion, is not quite as good. The hops aren't quite as fresh and in your face. It's still quite tasty, just not quite as tasty. The review below is from the first batch.

A: Nice cloudy straw color. Not much of a head, but then again SBBC never leaves a head on the beer (boo!). Note: served from a growler, the head is a nice finger and a half of white fluffiness. This recedes to a nice lacing.

S: The hops are very present. Smells wonderfully fresh. Almost like some of the double dry hopped IPAs that I've had. You just know you're in for a treat...

T: Mmmm. This is good. This really has so much in the way of fresh hops going on. Really tasty. There's some malt back there to balance it out (although only barely) - not too sweet or anything - but it's really about the hops. They are fresh and in your face. Almost actually tastes like some of the wet-hopped IPAs floating around. Not too bitter - just lots of citrusy/piney hop flavor and aroma.

M: Wonderful. Just a bit of stickiness. Otherwise, not heavy - nice and drinkable. The malt body is relatively thin, but the hops and the stickiness give it a wonderful mouthfeel.

D: Quite good. I'll often have a couple of these easily.

Personally, I think this may be the best SBBC beer I've had. Although their imperial stout from way back when that was brewed with 40 pounds of brown sugar was pretty amazing too. Best IPA I must say. And the Hoptometry and Castle Rock do give it some solid competition. This just has the freshest hop flavor of any of them. If you are in SB and like a good IPA, you will not go wrong with this one.
