Poured into a 3 Brewers handled pint glass.

Dark brown / chestnut in colour, off white head. Nice looking brown ale.

Nose is roasted chocolate malt, a good graininess to this brew. Smells like recently mashed grain, which for me is a great thing!

Tastes much like it smells - a rich roasted grain flavor, a bit of chocolate (the chocolate malt is quite noticeable) and coffee. Mild carbonation, decent body.

For a house brewed ale, this was pretty well put together. Enjoyable brew with supper.

Since we missed out going to a Trois Brasseurs while in Montreal this past summer, my gf didn't have to twist my arm that hard, when looking for some pub food reminiscent of that trip while currently in HogTown...

This beer appears a hazy dark brown hue, with one finger of soapy white head, and gives up not a shred of lace. It smells of light nutty caramel malt, and some faint earthy hops. The taste is roasted caramel malt, and some light herbal spiciness (almost clove-like). The carbonation is moderate, the body medium weight and smooth, and it finishes off-dry, with some additional herbal hoppiness.

Once again, it's like they didn't rinse out the glass of the previous wheat beer inhabitant. Very faint this time, leaving a so-so malty dark ale beyond the obvious distraction.

Dark chocolate body with some off-white head, and lacey. Slightly sweet aroma. Chocolate malt and chocolate added, a little roasty. Best of the night from their standard four lineup. Suitable above average carbonation, medium mouthfeel, drying finish.

I'm trying this at the Oakville location. It poured a clear mahogany with white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had hints of toffee. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink. There was toffee presence that was nice along with subtle bitter finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall is a decent brown.

tap at the brewery

Pours a deep reddish brown, clear, with a tan lacing for a head.

Aroma of light biscuit malt, roast, and caramel.

Coffee roast malt flavor with some caramel followed with woody hops.

Medium body with tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

Standard, solid brown ale. Drinks easy, goes down smooth. Worth a try, but forgettable.

appearance- Nice strong dark color, no light can be seen through this beer, nice white head fades to nice lacing,

Smell- very nice aroma on this one, beautiful roasted malts, slight dark chocolate, and molasses almost candy nose, really wants to pull you in for your first sip,

Taste- very nice beer, good balance of sweet roasted malts and bitter hop finish, is big in flavor and has a nice long finish, actually a very tasty beer,

Mouthfeel- medium bodied with a crisp carbonation on the palate, it maintains not being heavy at all though having a very big flavor,

Drinkability- very good beer and worth another look, with out a doubt the best beer of their line, if I were to return to one of these restaurants again this would be my go to beer, very great flavor while still having a nice session ability feel to it as it does not get to heavy, definitely the one that stuck out in the bunch as being highest quality

250ml draught
4.8% ABV (as written on the menu)

I tried this beer on January 13, 2011 on draught at "The Three Brewers" Brewpub in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a solid translucent brown colour with a rocky tan coloured head. The aroma was nutty malt, floral hops, and some caramel. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was nutty malt, sweet malt, with a bitter finish.
