Økologisk Jul
Hornbeer
Økologisk Jul is a bock beer, i.e. a bottom-fermented beer with a caramel flavor and sweetness from Munich malt. We have spiced the beer very lightly with orange peel. Christmas beer is one of the very best traditions of Christmas. Ever since the time of Harald Bluetooth, Christmas beer has been fermented with respect and devotion. Christmas beer has always been of the strong kind, yes, good beer.
Økologisk Jul beer is perfect for the traditional Christmas lunch. We have chosen to brew the beer so that it is not too strong. The alcohol percentage is 5.8. It is on the low end of the Christmas beers - but despite that, there is plenty of flavor.
With wishes for a Merry Christmas

Copenhagen 30/12 2015. 50 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsens Vinhandel, Østerbrogade, Kbh. Ø. Fat Christmas goose with a Christmas hat on the label. Reminds me of drunkard Uncle Waldo from AristoCats.
Pours slightly hazy reddish brown with a white head. Settles as flimsy patches of foam. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is licorice, anise, barley and a heavy caramel sweetness. Light sourish notes rummaging in the background.
Light carbonation and thin watery texture. Tingling.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a slightly more moderate bitterness. Medium bitterness in the aftertaste.
More licorice than in many dedicated licorice beers. Personally I do not associate Christmas with licorice and anise - but well made and easy to drink.
