Formerly Highlander Brewing Company... Founded in 2009 and one of the original Northern Ontario breweries, we brew meticulously hand-made small batch craft beer utilizing locally foraged ingredients whenever possible. In recognition to all of the exceptional local support from the community, the brewery name was changed in 2020 to South River Brewing Company (formerly Highlander Brew Co.).
South River Brewing Company pays homage to its location in the Almaguin Highlands. A brand new brewery was built in 2016 with state of the art equipment and processes. Prior to building the brewery, The Happy Landing Diner & Gas Station occupied the land where the brewery currently sits. Happy Landing Diner & Gas Station was a staple in South River and the Almaguin region for over 50 years. We've created a specialty brew to honour their legacy called the "Happy Landing English Golden Ale". We're proud to honour the iconic long standing local establishment.
South River Brewing Company makes its facility available to anyone in the region for private events at no charge. We support local groups and events whenever possible! Our retail store sells local artisanal arts & crafts and is a repository of information about tourism and events in the community. The store remains open for direct purchase in line with current health regulations.
For those who can't make it up to the brewery, online ordering & delivery is available for anyone in Ontario aged 19+. Building a case of 24 is GUARANTEED free shipping all the time! Proudly brewed in South River, Ontario.

I went there tonight as a local craftsman hosted an art class there. They are really into the community as the locals I chatted with told me. They use the room attached to the brewery to host events, and offer the space free to local businesses to host events. The art class was one of those shindigs. The staff was friendly and informative. They had 4 beers on tap.
