My first impression of this alleged blonde ale was that it bore little resemblance to any I've ever had. I might have guessed it was brewed with a Belgian yeast strain for the profuse array of exotic phenols that caused it to smell and taste like a witbier. Lots of clove and nutmeg. It's actually brewed with a White Labs California ale yeast.
No finings or filtration are used causing the ale to appear turbid in a shadowed apricot color unlike paler, more golden blondes. Bittering is modest.
An amusing and drinkable ale though I can't help but thinking its virtues are accidental. It is far spicier and more exotic than one would expect.
