A - Dark brown-black, with slight transparency that shows a red highlight under bright light. A light tan head, which is moderate but persistent. Lacing is present, but not extraordinary.
S - Roasted malts yield a strong toasty note, with chocolate and coffee elements, and a bit of herbal hops in the background.
T - Following the nose, with a dark bread element coupling with hits of cocoa and roasted coffee beans. The close yields a smoky, almost savory element. Close hints sweetness and dough, along with a bit of coffee acidity.
M - Decent, mild carbonation, very little to burden the palate on the close. The ABV is not obvious here, with no warmth.
O - This is an interesting porter, with a variety of flavors to explore. Playing on the line between sweetness and savory, there is a smokiness that is dialed to be present without becoming the beer's focus. I like my chocolate dialed forward, but this is not that kind of beer. Very good, and quite drinkable.
