In honor of Broadway in Indianapolis’ presentation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we’ve brewed Whipple Scrumptious Fudge Mallow Delight Candy Bar Porter.
Whipple was brewed with 1971 individual chocolate pieces from Indy’s The Best Chocolate in Town - both bars and chocolate-covered marshmallows - for
a full chocolatey Porter character.

Sort of like a Smith’s chocolate stout—that is, it would be if the water being used wasn’t as fresh and it was a lighter bodied porter instead of a stout. Pours nearly black with nice beige head. Smells and tastes like a tootsie roll. Light bodied and unpleasant porter aftertaste. Lots of carbonation. Slight, chalky chocolate sweetness, but not cloying. A tiny bit of roasted malts floats in the background. Overall I guess it’s ok, I’m thinking about having another one.
